Mid-June short interest (NASDAQ) Here's this month's NASDAQ snapshot. I've listed GLBL -- the final OSX constituent -- followed by a few thread familiars. I used WSJ's volume to calculate days-to-cover ratios. Entries read, left-to-right: trading symbol, # shares reported* open June 24, % change in open shares from May 27, # days' volume to cover. Bold figures indicate month/month percent gain . (Source: WSJ) TICKER..........TOTAL.........CHANGE........DAYS-TO-COVER GLBL .......... 1,761,189 ............ 38.3 ............. 1.9 ------------ CDIS ............. 13,276 .............. -86.8 ........... 0.08 CXIPY ........... 427,168 .............. -15.7 ........... 2.7 FGII .............. 403,305 .............. -27.9 ........... 1.1 GIFI ............... 67,025 .............. -26.0 ........... 0.5 HMAR ............ 956,435 .............. -26.7 ........... 2.6 MDCO ............ 859,449 .............. -23.0 ........... 0.6 MIND .............. 322,695 ............... -8.0 ........... 4.3 PTEN .............. 369,469 .............. -64.7 ........... 0.6 SCSWF ............ 69,201 ............... 21.1 ........... 0.3 TCMS .............. 25,618 ................ 0.7 .......... 0.3 TMAR ............. 949,655 .............. -24.1 ........... 2.4 *These figures, though released today, are in fact quite old. (News to me, anyway.) Here's how NASDAQ gathers the numbers:Firms are required to report their short positions as of settlement on the 15th of each month, or the preceding business day if the 15th is not a business day. The reports must be filed by the second business day after the reporting settlement date. The Product Deployment and Support area compiles the short interest data and provides it for publication on the 8th business day after the reporting settlement date.
