Baud,

Thanks for the note. Its always my pleasure to help shed some light on market action, when possible.

For rules governing short sales, its way beyond a post here. Do yourself a favor and visit www.sec.com, nasd.com and nasdr.com. They have tremendous material on market regulations regarding short sales. I believe the nasdr.com, and the Commentary to Members section will offer 'practical' application of short rules. Do you have a specific rule @ shorts you are interested in?

Short covering - shorts being called - Clients sometimes ask for their certs or move stock to a non-margin account thereby causing the brokerage firm to call the stock, that is call back the stock where lent so the shareholder can do what they please with it. There is a settlement period for the borrower to deliver back the stock. I guess, I would ask you to be more specific about particular areas and I can comment or give guidance..

From where I stand, asking about 'shorting' and 'calling short stock' is like asking someone how a stock traders...there is simply too much without greater specificity.

Welcome to the thread! Also go back and look through many of the posts, you might find some answers there.

_Regards,
