Sounds that way. But remember, the new-fangled, price protection forward contract languaging currently be employed by the biggies, and I categorize the HM bunch as a biggie player.

Maybe there are other reasons for lifting the hedge. But I'll take what encouragement I can get(g)

The aanswer is obvious. Homestake does not use forward selling therefore when buying a company that has, then it must unwind the hedge position. That's the reason, pure and simple.
