dg, this pc cycle has been extraordinary. pc prices have literally plummutted, but all at the expense of the component mftrs who are nearly all getting toasted to the extreme. the boxmakers are still making money off the component mftrs. it has been interesting and the boxmakers ought to feel lucky. if the components had not melted down then they would be toast ;-)

anyway, if people are actually cutting back then you will see it appear in one place and one place only - dram prices.

follow the prices. any words to the contrary of prices is pure bs.

so far, at least, pricing is still weak. don't know about next week ;-)

also, pc sales are growing slowly now and that assumes big price drops. even if a 16 mb chip goes up $2 the cost of 32 megs goes up $32. $64 for 64 megs. that reduces the price reductions and may have more impact than we might otherwise think. maybe not. if the disk drive companies get solid pricing back then it is a double whammy.

it will be interesting to watch.

good luck.

good luck.
