IBD 80 million 3D board forecast - from Yahoo:

---------------

IBD, Monday June 22, 1998. Yes they publish Saturday's edition with Monday's date, no I don't have a crystal ball, or work for them, I'm just a subscriber.

Read the good news!!

Page A31 under Industry Snapshot. It's a big article on Edu-Tainment and its growth since the explosion of PC's into homes and, I believe schools as well.

Third paragraph under Business: THE INDUSTRY ALSO INCLUDES MAKERS OF CHIPS AND CIRCUIT BOARDS THAT LET DEVELOPERS CREATE MORE COMPELLING TITLES. SAN JOSE, CA BASED 3DFX INTERACTIVE, INC AND OTHERS ARE SET TO MORE THAN DOUBLE SHIPMENTS OF 3-D GRAPHICS BOARDS TO 80 MILLION THIS YEAR.

I don't know how that number possibly breaks out, but I did read, and type 80 million, that's 80,000,000 just to be clear.

----------------

What's the TDFX component of this, 35% ?
When Banshee takes over the OEM number one slot, 50% ?

I wouldn't get too excited about Shopping.Com #1 status. They had a promotion where they sold 12 meg Monster II cards for $189 and just finished shipping the cards out. I was lucky and managed to get one of the cards for that price. I wonder if the card is selling as well at the $269 price listed now.
