Sup, I'm really hot on the idea of an ASND/TLAB merger. I'm not sure TLAB would pay much of a premium, because they are roughly the same size on a revenue basis. But with TLAB/CIEN/ASND you get the ultimate focus on the service provider infrastructure, literally no product overlap, and great marketing reach. I don't a think takeover premium would be necessary, since IMO, wall street would love the deal, and naturally add premium.

This company would have about $3B in revenue (trailing), about $600M net (trailing), be positioned to go head to head with CSCO and LU.

What do you think?

anyone have any thoughts about the unthinkable, i e, a deal between Cisco and ASND? Cisco is foreclosed from alliances with telco equip makers by Benhamou's own admission.

True, there are overlaps and directly competitive products but Ascend's Cascade operation has some products that CSCO can't compete with...it would really shake up the NW market picture big time!
