Drake- what mrvc does, etc, IMHO- In my humble opinion, MRVC is about the only company I know of that brings fiber optic cable straight to your own desktop PC. Why do I want fiber to my Mac? Bandwidth. Lots of information, Fast, over long distances. Gigabit ethernet is limited to about 100 meters over copper wire, many km. over fiber (100 km?) How would this change society, if everyone had access to fiber-class bandwidth from their desktop, assuming the entire network infrstructure grew with the personal user's speed? Why, it would be as revolutionary as the telephone. 1) Video phones would be the norm. Grandparents could see their kids, business users wouldn't fly as much. The porn industry would be revolutionized... you figure it out. 2) Cable tv would become Video Store over the fiber. Never wait to see a popular video again. 3) whole industries would die, new ones would be created. 4) People would expect network switching on the optical layer. I can't see that far ahead, but I can see that networking needs fiber optics like cars need good roads. WebDrone
