headline of the San Jose Mercury News today is the latest large layoff- Lockheed Martin and 2500 jobs, along with a table showing the growing casualty list in Silicon Valley- Seagate, Intel, National, SGI. The headline on the Real Estate section is "Sanity emerging in Silicon Valley housing market". Inventory grew 45% from January to May and prices are dropping. We have clearly passed the RE peak here. This is a dismal sign with the low interest rates- people are afraid to buy because jobs are disappearing.
