Based upon Saturday 6/20/98 NY Times, business section D-3 CPQ remains the largest short position having 78,559,609 shares for 6/15/98 vs 78,633,803 for 5/15/98. Perhaps the "silver lining" is that the short position over the course of the month has decreased by 74,194 as opposed to increase.

BTW, I spoke with some of CPQ's people at PC Expo who informed me that "they are doing better then expected" with respect to reducing their excess inventory, for whatever that is worth.

Best regards,

David
