Thank you, Terrence. "Selfless" is your operational word, but I cannot for the life of me see where it's evil, immoral. If that be true Mother Teresa, Albert Schwitzer, Florence Nightengale and Jesus, overcome with such vileness should have been the unhappiest of humans. We consider three of them saints, and the last much more. Christianity is a religion of sacrifice. Wrote Paul: "Always consider the other person to be better than yourself, so that nobody thinks of his own interests first but everybody thinks of other people's interest instead. [Jesus] emptied himself, and became as men are; and being as all men are, he was humbler yet, even to accepting death." Philippians 2 Jerusalem Bible I taught my people when running my companies: "You worry about me, I'll worry about you; so neither of us will have to worry about himself." With customers we had a no-money-guarantee: "If you're not satisfied with 0ur products keep your money, and our merchandise too, or adjust the bill to whatever you think is fair. If you're not happy we don't want your money." Best of all, you like yourself more when you commit to an unselfish life. Even better: you feel God smiling upon you and you're lifted out of yourself, out of your own insignificance. "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, shall they give unto you." and "Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." Luke 6:38 John 15:13 These statements encapsulate the highest of all ethics, the most beneficial and optimistic of all philosophies, and if the world came to live by them we would find peace. In God's Kingdom this shall be: "Then justice shall dwell in the wilderness; and righteousness shall abide in the fruitful field. And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and confidence for ever. Isaiah 32:16-18 What have you got that's better than selflessness, Terrence?
