I understand that XTL is based on a statistical method called the "Rus Test" which is a test for randomness particularly used in industry to determine if flaws are the result of equipment wear...

I was going to do a more detail study of this for our local GET group, but time has not permitted. But in the research I did do I am convinced that using a number like 35 bars is probably better than what I used to use 17 or what someone else has suggested on this tread 21... The validity of the Runs Test is based on sufficient enough data to indicate if something is random or not. Yes, smaller numbers might give earlier signals, but what are the signals of. Maybe better just to use a different indicator if want earlier signals. XTL is trying to tell you that a trend has started and that it is probably not random.

Hope this sparks your interest in researching more, if you do spend some time on it I would be interested in the results.

Harold

Harold's message is a good description of what XTL does, but the indicator itself is proprietary to Advanced Get. Can't do it in MetaStock.
