Don;

Yeshua also taught that it is proper to earn money. Mat. 25 (15-30).
Money is simply a tool, it can be used for good or for evil. Capitalism was taught to us by Yeshua and freedom only exists because of his efforts. Trace the spread of freedom in the world and you will map out the Journey of the Apostle Paul. Money is not the problem. We should seek the world's money that we might feed the poor, clothe the naked, care for our families and further the cause of Messiah.

Barukh atah Adonai, eloheinu melekh ha-olam, hatov vehametiv.
Blessed art Thou, Lord our God, King of the universe, who is good and does good.

Shalom uv'rachah b'Yeshua HaMashiach - Peace and blessings in Messiah Yeshua - DLL

Don:

"Be thou not righteous overmuch."
Something Alan should learn.

"...neither make thyself overwise:"
Why should one limit their education? Is too much knowledge something to be feared because then the individual may not be able to be controlled so easily?

"why shouldest thou destroy thyself?" 7:16
Why is it implied that wisdom will destroy a person? Should ignorance then be the standard?

"But neither you nor I is the center of the universe."
I never claimed that, nor is it objective to do so.

"In our day of self-worship many serve only themselves, with unbridled ambition, greed, lust, pride and hate."

I do not worship my self, I honor my self and respect my self -- there is a vast difference. Can you see that? There is absolutely nothing wrong with unbridled ambition as long as it respects the rights of others. Greed is good. What man does not have lust for the woman he loves? Pride is one of the foundations for a healthy self-esteem. Hate is created within an individual who fears: fears himself, fears others, fears the unknown; or from jealousy of another person. Both are irrational.

"Their horizons foreclose til only ego remains and they destroy the social fabric together with their future happiness; jettisoning all hope of eternal life."

If "the social fabric" is evil, if it is immoral, if it is headed towards restricted liberty or limited rights of individuals and property, then that society is to be condemned and rational individuals should expend whatever energy it takes to bring down that society and replace it with an objective one.
