I enjoyed your "On and Off topics" narrative and share similar feelings regarding former youthful "courage" (now looked back on as foolhardiness).

In respect to the markets, I agree with the perception there is a rounding top forming in the averages. With some of the "way out" analysts calling for flat earnings in 1998, a drop to any support level you can spot from 1997 is possible. I am keeping my eyes open for a H&S, or some other familiar formation to appear soon. After all, timing is everything.

Gary

brief piece of advice from new lurker but experienced weekend tree-felling warrior: forget rope, get chain, some hooks, & a come-along. I learned my lesson early on that one man-power means zilch vs a tree. One 4" pine which I was oh-so-sure I could place where I wanted it (based on success with say 30-40 previous much larger ones), a puff of wind and I was a sorry victim of gravity. I got to build a new dock after I finished sawing up the tree. Get chain, not cable or rope. Maybe cost more but its a lot less than a corner of your house. The come-along will let you pull it the way you want regardless of leaning. good luck. Bob
