CPQ was a partner in the Xeon launch and has already announced both products and award-winning benchmarks using Xeon-based systems. I don't know where HP and IBM are on this but I don't see an advantage at the moment for Dell related to the Xeon launch.

RE: Unix vs. NT share, on a revenue basis the NT market in this space was growing at more than 300% / yr in 1997 (typical of a very early market penetration) tapering to about 100% growth in 1Q98. Current share on a revenue basis is about 20%. Share by units is huge, already a majority of the market. Unix averages about 3 times the SW cost of NTW, and RISC HW is about twice the cost for the same performance.
