There is at times those who fall prey to the thought
that they have been scamed. When in fact, the stock
is resting because of little or no news. This happens
to all stocks. That is why so many are always searching
for 'winners', the undervalued stock.
Ok, so you've found a 'winner'. You ride the stock to
a double in a few months, weeks or days if you are
extremly lucky. (I know you see it happen all the time,
but are YOU actually in the stock?)
Now, the thread you have been involved in goes from 100 posts
a day, to 100 posts a week. The price is slowly dropping
everyday. Guess what? While the price was going up, you
forgot to sell. Why? Because others said "I'm riding this
one to a 100 bagger!" And you figured, Maybe they are right,
or half right. But maybe they were selling. Just maybe.

Now, is it the companies fault? Maybe, maybe not. Was it
a hypster who fooled everyone? Same holds true. Maybe?
In all likely hood, IMHO, the company is doing some good
things, and someone got wind of it and rumored it out and
a bunch of others jumped in all at once. Now, who's fault
is it? Is the company at fault?
Lots of things to consider. IMHO, a lot of times the company
has no idea what happened. I've seen companies put out news
releases stating they don't know what's going on with the
stock price. I've even seen companies go a step farther and
release a news report saying they don't know what's going on
except that a group, like "inside investers annon" have
recommended the stock in their latest paper.
What is moving the stock is that day traders along with the
average investor is jumping on the band wagon. That is why,
IMHO, there is not always the GREAT need to run out and buy
a stock just because "joe blow" picked it as the "stock
of the week" and his last pick tripled.

Always do the DD. Don't always follow the herd. Set a target
price and sell part and hold part or buy back after the rush.
I know, so you missed out on a double. Hold on for the next
one or just forget it. Don't trash a stock just because YOU
made a mistake. YOU are responsible for what you invest in.

IMHO follow the recommendations you feel comfortable with. They
are just other's picks. They have a reason for picking that
particular stock. See if their reasons match yours and if you
get the same conclusion from your DD, I say go for it!

Happy investing!
