I am very happy for all the Iranian people. This was their World Cup and they won it today! My best friends (from college days) are Iranian. They are some of the smartest, hard working, honest and fun loving people that I have met here in USA. There is no doubt that they deserved to win the game. My next post is about the lead monkey...it won't be pretty.

Sampson must be fired NOW...no need to wait until the WC is over. Do it now so a message should be sent out that no failures by a USA team would be tolerated and his infamous 3-6-1 should be buried for EVER!! Mistakes by him today: -What was Wegerle doing 60 minutes in the game? Heck, what is he doing in the team? -Where is Wynalda? Why didn't you bring Harkes and Lassiter with you (they could score some goals) -Why did you take Ramos out? I hope he wanted to come out because of his conditioning otherwise... -You have taken some excellent talent (yes don't laugh guys there is great talent in this USA team) and you managed to put on a field a totally unorganized and confused team which doesn't even believe in itself anymore. Add to that your stupid comments about respect, second round and the total isolation in the chateau in the middle of French nowhere you succeeded to put an incredible amount of stress in these players like life depended on their World Cup results...you took the FUN out of USA's game. And USA, like all new aspiring nations, needs a coach (I prefer Brazilian or Bora<g>) to mold the team in a unit and give it its unique character based on the few aspects that characterize the nation...you tried with your 3-6-1 when you should have let the guys play their game for FUN and downplay any significance to it. USA will never be as efficient as the Germans or as technically gifted as the Brazilians...and for sure as hell USA does not need a stupid complex system noboyelse is using and chokes the individual talent that exists. I think I am just ranting right now...totally disappointed. This is a good lesson for USA. Keep your mouth shut and just go out to have fun. Prediction for Yugoslavia-USA:4-0 if Sampson is coaching, 2-1 if he is not. Luck has also abandoned the USA team...No excuse however. I think Heidjuk wrote himself a ticket to a European club.
