Automated Backup
If I want to incorporate an automated backup system is tape the best? How would it work with a partitioned 6.5 GB drive? What is a good match of tape size vs partition size? Can I schedule a daily backup of a 500 MB C: and a 3MB G: drive and a 3MB H: drive and have it all done automatically? Do I compress? Is it a complete backup of the entire partition or just the files on the partition? Is it possible to retrieve individual files. Drive image allows individual file retrieval for uncompressed images only.

you need to go re-read some of the previous backup discussion. Whats best is what suites your needs. The backup software I like for 95 (seagate backup exec) has an auto scheduler, can backup files fully or incrementally from any local or network disk, use compression, and can restore individual files from compressed images. Media is your choice. that software supports tapes, removables, cdr, cdrw, etc...

No its just a CD. 12x cd write I wish :) its CAV drive as all over 12x are. 12/20x specs the min max performance. This drive is faster than most 32x drives on the market.

DVD recommendation. don't buy one. How many people really watch movies on their TV???

If you don't have a CDR. buy one of those instead. Its has been the single best computer periphereal I have ever bought!!! 18+ Gigs on MP3's of live concerts of my favrite bands that I am slowly burning and many more uses. With blank media at 1.50 and still dropping you can't go wrong...
