Jeff,

Thanks for your comments. I am long RMBS but this topic is related to Intel. I was long Intel for awhile, I traded it earlier this year, and will probably get back in at lower levels, but I have placed my money where my mouth is and loaded up on RMBS as I believe it has a bright future.

And yes, I understand your point on RDRAM helping to speed through put on 700MHz processors, therefore their "vested" interest in RMBS.
You have to admit, the support and implementation of RDRAM is building. Also, my choice of words was weak....Intel is doing far more at this point than simply "endorsing" RDRAM. :)

Maybe, maybe not. It is interesting to see how the newer designs are going toword onchip L2. This will reduce the value of highspeed memory access. In addition one very easy way to double memory bandwidth is to double the databus width. Nevertheless, Intel has stated publicly they are totally committed to rambus memory interfaces, and they have also stated publicly it is too late for them to go with any alternative. Rambus will operate at speeds of 800mhz and above but this doesn't mean the bus will. Being at least 64 bits wide, a 266mhz bus would keep up with a 1.6GBPS Rambus memory subsystem. So would a 133mhz double pumped bus.

EP
