You need to be very cautious with this idea as it doesn't live up to the hype. The problem - logic processes can't make decent DRAM and DRAM processes make lousy logic. "Lousy" here means big and slow relative to the specialized process. The press articles that you have read is caused by DRAM companies looking to employ excess DRAM capacity. The formula works if your got nothing better to do.

Product based on surplus is risky business. Eventually the situation changes and the inefficient hybrid product gets the axe.
