Melissa, It sounds like Trader Dave knows the technology and likes it, I certainly don't want to cast a grey cloud on this thing. My only objection is Im tired of seeing all these stupid press releases from unrelated companies claiming to solve logistical problems, when in fact their technology doesnt address the real issues. Of course CEOs don't know this, and then some Vantive user is going to assume that they now can look into their hub and spoke distribution network and see where the delay is the next time theres a UPS strike.

Id probably be a lot happier about this Wayfarer company if Carla didnt drink all the Bordeaux and everything from France leaving me with the Napa leftovers and something creepy from South Africa. :p

This an interesting acquisition considering Vantive already has in place products and partnerships with FirstFloor for very similar push/pull technology (Vantive Encyclopedia utilizes FF Notification Server and Vantive Channels uses FF Smart Delivery).

Perhaps Vantive wanted their own product (Vantive Vista via Wayfarer - say that 10 times real fast) as opposed to licensing FirstFloor technology, who also has partnerships with other SFA/CIS vendors (Aurum/Baan, IMA, Brock, K&V and others).

Steve F - any light on this subject?
