Daniel...

Pardon my butting in here, but thought I'd offer a little info on OmniTrader. I'm on about my 3rd or 4th version of it.

OT doesn't allow you to "customize" much. It does contain some 120 different TA indicators (they add more from time to time) which it uses to scan your database. The new 32 bit software runs very fast on faster machines so it's useable now. Before 32 bit, it was painfully slow.

I have experimented with "tweeking" the indicators, but, for the most part, believe the default settings are the best. After all, you have to assume they've already tried everything I could imagine, and set the defaults to the best settings.

OT will optimize each indicator to each stock. That way, you allegedly get the best each indicator has to offer. I retest every 10 days to re-optimize. The assumption being that if it worked yesterday, it will hopefully work tomorrow (but maybe not next month. Hence, the retest.

Since I'm already so far off topic, let me add this. I just signed on with Quotes Plus. I get my EOD downloads from the net at 7:30 Eastern each day. QP, version 2, allows you to customize your scans to your heart's content. Plus, there are dozens of pretested scans available at several sites. You can use these so you don't even have to learn the language right away.

I'm still new with it, and I'm debating whether to go with QP or stay with OT. I think QP might have more to offer, but the jury is still out on this. QP lets you monitor the entire market, NYSE, AMEX & NASDAQ. And it supports Metastock format, if you need that for your other software (I do).

There's more, but this may answer some initial questions for you.
