From UBS this morning:

"There was intense speculation on Friday that PairGain was going to be acquired. We believe the company's presence with the US RBOCs and technology leadership in xDSL technology would make the company valuable to companies seeking these attributes. The flat earnings performance in the past five quarters, languishing stock price and low P/E multiple, we believe, would make the current management team open to such discussions. We do not consider Lucent, Cisco, NorTel, Tellabs or Alcatel as likely candidates to buy the company. AFC, ECI, Siemens and Ericsson are more likely with AFC being the most likely in our opinion. A takeout would most likely fetch at least $25/share."
