I agree on Korea and sharply disagree on Taiwan, based on our track record for 50 years in that region.

Consider this, too. If China invades Taiwan, the sanctions we would impose would make our India/Pakistan sanctions look like nothing. Regardless what it cost us because we would probably be at war.

Is China going to blow their entire economic transition for the sake of nationalism? I have seen some really wretched excesses in the name of nationalism, but the Chinese haven't been around a few thousand years by being that dumb.
