It follows, then, that if one wanted to buy the stock he would have to pay a HIGHER price for the stock so as to induce a current holder to sell his shares.

But I thought the current holders weren't gonna sell, the object of the exercise being to reduce the float to zero. In that case, there would be no stock at all on the market, and so, if the company wished to restore liquidity, it would be obliged to issue more shares. Of course, that would mean dilution...
