Government confronts Internet privacy
Associated Press - Posted at 7:01 a.m. PDT Tuesday, June 23, 1998

WASHINGTON -- Warning companies that do business on the
Internet to better protect the privacy of consumers, Commerce
Secretary William Daley said today the federal government will
intervene unless industry changes its ways.

''I don't want to hear any griping or moaning if that happens,'' Daley
said, opening a two-day summit on Internet privacy.
