Yes Sam that also applies to shorts (not too many I guess) who have watched profits on short or otherwise bearish positions fizzle away. I have taken my share of profits both ways (as well as watching some
paper profits go) and I know how fleeting they can be. I doubt the
the typical AOL investor can identify with this.

We are getting a nice speculative bubble with internet stocks
and their fellow travellers. In some cases the companies are looking
more and more like fronts for securities escapades if not fraud.
Many of the officers in these companies can't hope to make 1/10'th
the amount from honest work in their lifetime than they can from
cashing in on stock options (anyone we know?? (VBG)).

You just have to wonder how committed these people must be to the
long term success of their company as opposed to managing their
company's stock price.
