<<<What realistically does anyone think the average parent in China can afford? >>>

If it's socialized medicine, that may be a moot question. We know that the Chinese government is very benevolent, and spares no expense to make their people's lot in life easier, now don't we.

<<< Half of the population is rural and will not be able to afford this or any other test at any price!>>>

I believe a good percentage, perhaps more than half of all births in China are done without medical assistance.

<<<my apologies to those of you offended by this, but it is a reality
that female infanticide is prevalent in China>>>

I believe that's because Chinese couples are only allowed one child, and boys are more valuable in and agrarian society. Also, there would be a definite bias toward choosing healthy babies.

Let's not forget that they decided to release the news during market hours, in an attempt to manipulate the price. I believe most ethical companies release that which they consider major news before or after market hours.
