Micron Technology to acquire Rendition
BOISE, Idaho, June 22 (Reuters) - Micron Technology Inc. will acquire Rendition Inc., a maker of graphics chips for personal computers, in a stock swap worth about $88 million, the two companies said.
Under a definitive agreement shareholders of privately held Rendition, based in Sunnyvale, Calif., will receive 3.7 million shares of Micron common stock, officials said.

''We are very excited about the new opportunities in graphics accelerators and digital appliances that this partnership makes possible,'' Micron Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Steve Appleton said in a statement.

Just last week Micron said it would buy Texas Insturments Inc's troubled memory chip business for about $800 million in stock and debt.

But Micron has been seeking ways to diversify into related areas as well, the company said.

''The combination of the two companies facilitates continued aggressive development and technological innovations in the graphics products arena,'' Rendition Chief Executive Officer John Zucker said in a statement.

Sorry for not checking in the past month+, but my life has me swamped and I'm unlikely to get my head above water thru the rest of summer. Nonetheless...

You all know how much I love you, but I'm forced to report that ATI hit another record high today, closing at $18.85 per share, a pre-split equivalent of $75.40 per share.

What a ride.
