The VAST majority of antibiotic RXs are written by physicians for viral illnesses that if you asked the doc they would admit that antibiotics are inappropriate to treat. Yet due to "patient demand" or physician inability to communicate to patients the facts these drugs are routinely "indiscriminately written" for. Ask the CDC why they are publishing info pamphlets about antibiotics for physicians to use in their offices.

I don't think Kaiser will do a full reversal. There is also pressure from clients to keep premiums and costs down. All customers of Kaiser would have to pay for those who use Viagra. I think the most Kaiser would do is pay 1/2 for up to about 4 pills per month.

However, I don't think sales of Viagra will be affected much by Kaiser's decision.
