Yes definitely todays prices will be profitable over the next 18 months, the difficult decision to make today is: will they be profitable going long or going short?
I know I don't have any credibility, even though I warned you 3 weeks ago and the stock has since gone down by 50%. But if you want to gamble then remember that the reason that KMAG is doing this financing is that banks and credit agencies will not lend them enough money. If you feel that you are in a better financial position then the banks by all means jump on board.
Secondly, even KMAG is not hoping for a quick turn around, they are repricing all of their employees options down from $19 to around $6.
Thirdly, if you still aren't convinced that this is a high risk play remember that the convertible bond holders are given options that they can short against and reduce their risk to Zero. We don't have these options. If you see a lot of short activity around the time of the convertible placements and a lot of short activity around some quick rallies then remember there was a lot of money being made in these next 18 months, it just wasn't being made by the people who went long at this time.
