I am sorry to hear about your son, and having said that the fact that he is ok bodes well for him...

When I was three days old I had bronco-pneumonia. When my mother found me (in the hospital nursery), she told me I was purple, and they put me in intensive care, for a few days...

I am here. No handicap... except for a severe one in golf...

Where I come from they say that "bad herb [weed], never dies", so I guess that applies to your son....

I hope he is doing better now.

Z.

p.s. As for the game, it was a tight and hard game, either team could have won, England (particularly in the first half) played elegantly, Romania played well, towards the second half Romania began to look a little tired.

Owens (England # 20) is a very good player. He should definitively start, in spite of his 18 years of age, he showed maturity and scored the equalizer for England, and nearly did it again in the dying minutes of the game. (hit the post).

Romania's victory goal was a gift by England's # 3, he lost sight of the ball, and with the killer instinct of the Romanian striker (already shown in the first goal), took advantage of it and put it to sleep in the 90th minute.

Bad brake for England.

I keep saying that this WC is the most closely matched the teams are I believe that the importance of scoring an early goal is even more so in this tournament, and really a 1 x 0 advantage is nothing at all.

These teams are hungry, as we advance we will continue to see more of the same.

Nigeria and Romania so far have been the greatest surprises, and they are no flash in the pan thing....

George: sorry to hear about your son and happy things are going back to normal with him. I hate it when I see my kids (4 and 3 years) sick, not only for the evident reasons but also because all that magic energy they usually extrovert gets sapped out of them.

On a lighter note: I humbly suggest we call ARGENTINA world champion RIGHT NOW and save all those other countries from humiliating defeats. I just don't want them to loose face <g>

George,

Glad to know that your baby is fine now.
I doubt that England or Romania will go
very far but probably were a good match for
each other..But my predictions carry very
little weight..

About the German team and the discussion here
IMHO the Germans have very little of the ol' quality
of yesteryear teams: their game is plainly low quality
physical intimidation. They should be dispatched back home
in short order. Lacking are those players of outstanding quality
(e.g. Beckenbauer, etc) their good teams used to have. Instead
their team is dense with Piojos* and American Football players!

Victor

*Ronaldo: I respectfully disagree about the quality of Lopez. He should not be playing at these levels.
