Elmer,

Would you buy a Slot 2 based system using a 440 chipset or would you rather wait 2 months and buy an 8-way capable system for a couple extra $$ (well actually the same price by that point in time).

This will hurt Intel a little bit.

Steve

PS. What do you make of these two "high-profile" slips in a row. Now I know this one if no big deal technically (or at least I hope not for the semi-industry), but still... keep this up and you get a reputation that Andy worked so hard to avoid.

The article may be correct about the 450NX chipset, I don't know, but they are wrong about Xeon not shipping. The 440GX chipset supports Slot2 and Xeon servers will ship using that chipset.

Elmer, that is good news. I hope that lessens the impact the 450NX chipset delay. Dale

Elmer, Re: "The 440GX chipset supports Slot2 and Xeon

Does the 440GX chipset restrict servers to 1 to 2 Xeon processors? If so, I wonder how much revenue will be put off until 3 and up to 8 can be SMP'd together?
