Isn't also to be manufactured by Intel? Is it also a joke? Would Intel use worse technologies for Alpha? How does Compaq work with Intel on this?

Thanks for the comments on Alpha. Your comments make a lot of sense. And given Sun, HP, IBM, CPQ, NEC, SGI, Fujitsu and every other major vendor have already indicated strong support for Merced, Alpha will have an uphill fight.

BTW: I still comb that other thread for "secret information" <g>
I better not joke about it though, or that damn Ali will badger me the finer points of a microprocessor. Geeze, what a character. <g>
