Acts 1:18 Now this man acquired a field with the price of his wickedness; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his bowels gushed out.

First of all it never says he died by this act. In fact I have never heard of any person ever dying like this.

Chris, almost. The verse actually says he did die. Read on to Acts 1:19-20.

And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called, in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The Field of Blood.

For it is written in the Book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein; and his bishoprick let another take."

Now call me stupid but this paints a clear picture of a death. The Field was known as the Field of Blood after this event and now "his bishoprick let another take." Both compelling evidence that Judas did die. Why else name the Field after him? And why else would his bishoprick be up for grabs?

It is quite clear Paul wrote in Acts 1:18 that Judas died. Other translations say that his "intestines spilled out" which is synonymous with guts. Tell me, how often do you see people's "intestines gush forth" and they're still alive and OK? Especially in an era where medical technology wasn't exactly high.

So we have 3 reasons to know that Judas died here.
First, his intestines gushed out after falling head Long.
Second, the Field was called after this "The Field of Blood"
Third, His former Leadership was now up for grabs.

All three make me 100% sure what Paul meant.

May the Blessings of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful, Be Upon You.
