Lets get off topic :-)

Why don't we discuss technology? As an engineer my family gets access to lots of stuff before 'normal' households. This lets me see how non-techies view the whole industry.

My eldest son (12) has been using a system called Battle.Net to play games with other 'kids'. My younger boy has been envious and started using it last night. At 8:30 he was told to finish up and hit the hay, but argued that he had to stay - he had another 'kid' on his team and could not desert him. At 8:45 the other 'kid' begged forgiveness because it was 1:45am for him and he had to go to bed - he had an important meeting at work the next day.... They were playing a very addictive game called Starcraft that uses the Intenet for realtime play.

The new computer (PII 400) has a video phone and the kids can now call me at work via Netmeeting. They love it and want to be able to call their grandparents with it.

This morning I was reminded by my wife that I haven't finished rewiring the kitchen - she had moved her computer (Power Mac) there, but the lack of cat5 leaves her using a 33kb modem. She finds this slow compared to the family room where we have 100BT (which goes to a 2 channel ISDN router with compression - delivers ~200kb throughput).

The cable guys are outside right now laying fiber... I wonder what expectations that will bring :-)

John

Chambers is a FAILURE as reported by CNBC. He failed in getting partnerships, as I have so often posted on this thread.

Here are some of my predictions despite the IDIOTIC naysayers on this thread.

1. Cisco's Growth Slowing -- Shown to be TRUE by Cisco.
2. Cisco's margins Declining -- Shown to be TRUE by Cisco
3. Commoditization of Cisco's products.
4. Cisco facing increasing competition.
5. Cisco's FAILED partnership attempts and FAILED ACQUISTIONS (like Granite).
6. Cisco's NO R&D (buying R&D).

Hey Zoltan, why dont you go ferret out the posts which said all of these and post them here!!!
