Read this and make your own conclusion,, bought some ,, for hell of it .. Subj: TM, I owe you for all your help Date: 98-06-21 12:05:42 EDT From: nobody@REPLAY.COM (Anonymous) To: TokyoMexx@aol.com TokyoM, You don't know me, but I have made big profits off some of your picks. Well, actually its $CDN rather than $US, but SEEK and RNTK and TAVA made me a ton, plus I did OK with a couple of others. I may be in a position to pay you back. I live in Toronto. I am connected with IMAX (ticker IMAXF), but I can't tell you in what way I am connected. I feel too uncomfortable giving enough details. You may have seen the picture "Everest" on the big screen. Well, that's IMAX's business, big screen specialty theatres, entertainment centres. They do both both the equipment production and the film production. Anyway, IMAX is in acquisition mode after the cash generated by Everest. I happen to know that IMAX is very close to buying Showscan (SHOW). Show is in the same business. IMAX got upset when Iwerks and Showscan wanted to merge, IMAX even sued SHOW. We all thought that was funny, because IMAX dominates the big screen equipment and film market, I mean, what a joke, Iwerks and SHOW together can't equal the market domination of IMAX. But Rich Gelfond (the CEO) is a pretty agressive chap like that, he wants to be a monopoly. The lawsuit got dropped when it became obvious who was the dominant one. Anyway, why SHOW? It is cheaper for Gelfond to buy SHOW than to set up new screens. But the best reason is that SHOW is about to close an incredible series of deals. They have reached a deal with the IOC (Internal Olympic Committee) to build more than a dozen theatres in former Olympic sites. One has already been commissioned as an experiment. Sony is also interested. They like to deal with SHOW, Gelfond can be a turnoff. Iwerks was going to buy SHOW for about $US 3.50, but the deal fell through because of activist shareholders from a place called Providence Capital. What a mistake. With the new deals SHOW is closing, the talk is above $4. I can't buy any SHOW stock because I am just too nervous. I don't know what you know about Canada, but the governmental powers are much greater than in the States, they can monitor private stock accounts more closely here. I don't mind, I am buying IMAX stock because I have a history of buying it. But I am under strict orders not to buy SHOW and had to sign a statement to that effect. So have about two dozen other people. They can't monitor my EM, but they can monitor my brokerage account (which I had to disclose as a part of my employment contract). IMAX is a good company. But the big money will be made by SHOW owners who buy now. I've got more details, but I think you get the big picture. I need to disguise myself just enough. I trust you won't give this to somebody else, but just in case you do, I can't be identified by the info I have given you. I think SHOW is the beauty way to go, eh? If you don't believe me, I'll understand. But I can't think of any other way to repay you for your great picks. I know you take a lot of shit from people, but you have really benefitted the small investor who does not understand market timing. You are the only person I have told. I owe you for my good fortune. I don't think word has leaked out, there is no action on the Silicon Investor SHOW thread, but I was interested to find out the SHOW CEO bought some shares of SHOW around the time buyout discussions started. If you are interested in getting more information, post a note at the SI IMAX thread. The first should read "Everest was great!" Please do not post on the SHOW thread.
