With regard to having an LTK system along side a Visx system, I believe you will indeed see it. The doctor who treated my eyes up in Canada had two Visx systems, a Sunrise LTK, and I understand he also has a Nidek system.

The LTK system is great for correcting overcorrected PRK myopes, i.e., a myope that has been corrected into hyperopia. While Visx has clinicals ongoing for hyperopia, I do not think they have trials for correcting their overcorrected myopes. By the way these are very unhappy patients and believe me, if the doctor can correct these, he will certainly want to do it rather refering they to another doctor to have LTK performed on the patient.

While the LTK at $200K sounds like a lot of money, it is really not that much in the context of a clinic that has already spent half a million on a Visx system. There are a lot of overhead costs with Visx which will not need to be duplicated when an LTK is added to the practice.
