Buck and all,

Is Siemens Nixdorf's using OUR Fingerscan?

This is dated 18 Jun, if it has been posted before, well...

"Bank to adopt fingerscan ATM, NEW STRAITS TIMES-MANAGEMENT TIMES

SOUTHERN Bank Berhad has emerged as the first bank in Malaysia and the region to adopt Siemens Nixdorf's fingerscan biometrics software in a move to make automated teller machine (ATM) transactions more secure. The technology, which was displayed at Southern Bank's recent exhibition on electronic banking products in Kuala Lumpur, is being used on a trial basis, but will soon be launched to the public. The biometrics ATM is said to operate at a high level of security, preventing theft and fraud as fingerprints cannot be forged or transferred. Fingerprint biometrics technology authentication is based on the verification of a person's identity by fingerprint geometry, a security device which provides positive identification of individuals. When a customer registers for the biometrics ATM service, any alternate fingers may be enrolled in the case of injury to the primary finger. It also accommodates both right-handed and left-handed individuals.
