A few notes about the port city of Fuzhou: Located in coastal Fujian Province, Fuzhou sits astride the scenic Min River on a green subtropical plain near the Fu Mountains. Its importance as a trading port goes back to the 8th century when it was absorbed into the Tang Dynasty and assumed its present name, which means 'happy city'.
