The last trade reported on the CBOE web site for Jan 99 puts @ 40 was a trade of 5195 options - 10% of the total. My very humble, very inexperienced opinion: Serious hedging led by institutions. Not a bad move. Perhaps somebody does know something; but remember, it was only 8 trading days ago that TXN was @47. Also, TXN has gone above upper bollinger band.... and if you look @ dow, maybe we are ripe for some serious correction????

About a year ago, I had a position in USRX. I had some gains I wanted to preserve; so I put a stop loss @ 10% less than the price of the stock on the day I did it. Well..... Stock fell to my stop loss point, I got stopped out, fell another half point and then rebounded (without me, of course). The advice I got at the time which I really haven't forgotten was to hedge the gain by buying a put.
