Agreed. I do not think anything is as cut and dried as some people would have us believe but this whole clustering do si do kinda blew my mind. If I am not mistaken it was Brainshare two years ago that Merkey demonstrated a working cluster and then whammo, project gets back burnered, he leaves, and lawsuits start flying. Anyone have deeper insight into this confusing situation?

<<The problem for Novell is that Merkey's technology worked. He had dozens of standard four-way servers clustered together, and he was getting near-linear performance. He also rewrote key NetWare Loadable Modules to show that applications could also benefit from this clustering.

Had Novell kept the technology, it would now have a highly scalable network operating system.>>

So this great clustering system (with near-linear performance) was not given back to Novell to continue to develop as their rightful intellectual property after they won the lawsuit ? They are just letting Merkey sit around and watch TV until November, then MSFT starts copying his disks ? I don't think so. I doubt the credibility of this story.

Very interesting food for thought..............thanks

I am new to NOVL ....initial position bought at 12.875 last week...I think we'll see a pop to 15 when NetWare 5 is released but I think we'll go a bit lower before then.
long term maybe $20..........am I being too conservative or am I dreaming..............."I'd like to know"......
