Rarebird: re: Hatch-Feinstein bill, I view this as an attempt by two senators to be "wannabees". It is a poor and ineffectual repackaging of MaCain bill. Yes, it provides a clause re: banning class actions?? But, the cap is too high, And the reduction in 25 year costs still way too much. ( too high, in the first place, it is as if you were looking at Ferrari's and the list price of the car , is $150,000. and the salesmen says, I give you a 10% discount !! Even a 50% discount is not enough for me, so, the same, 500-600 billion vs. 400-500 ... no, no, no...) Increased FDA regulation. NO.. not acceptable. Period. The hidden ajenda by the FDA, as verified publically, by the former commissioner Kessler, is to ban tobacco. "...and I don't care...." if the companies go out of business. quoted from speech by Kessler. Tax deductions of imposed costs, fees, etc...? Open question? Paying the plaintiff's lawyers and submitting to a lawyer review arbitration board. NO. NO. NO. For me personally, If I were presented with this last issue re: paying plaintiff's lawyers fees, that , for me, regardless of how good a deal the other situations, is a drop dead, walk away from the negotiation, burn the bridges, behind me, etc...not that I could not afford it, but this is my personal line and I would insist on not crossing it. The Board of Directors would have to remove me. No, The Hatch-Feinstein, is an attempt to ride on McCain's shoestrings. I say pass because, it is not good enough, it is not any better than the McCain, except it is packaged and uses better cosmetics. dk dk
