Home builders on a roll? What is next.. the home furnishing retailer. You buy your home from LEN,KBH, DHI or whomever then rush to the home furnishing retailer. The top names are BBBY and LIN. LIN doesn't report until the 15th so we have time for it. BBBY is the number ONE home furnishing retailer with LIN in hot pursuit. I think they will BOTH beat earnings. Bed, Bath & Beyond is holding its own as sales leader in home furnishings with 141 stores in 29 states. These stores are one stop shop for all your home-furnishing needs.. Sales of home-decor items grew 6.5% last year, reflecting a 19 year high in housing turnovers. LIN is in hot pursuit with aggressive expansion. There are many new markets for these two superstores to penetrate and their growth is virtually a certainty. "They have been able to take market share away from department stores and boutiques, and they offer competititve price points," said Ken ryan, an editor with Home Furnishings News. BBBY has higher profit margins than its competitors because it has less overhead. Its suppliers ship merchandise directly to stores, while some rivals use centralized distribution systems. Same store sales for the fiscal year ended Feb. 28 wer up 6.4% from a year ago on total sales of $1.1 billion. Earnings for BBBY are projected to grow at least 25% this year to a minimum of $1.29 a share. Earnings for LIN are projected to grow 31% to 85 cents a share this year..BBBY has met or exceeded analysts' forecasts in the past 24 quarters.. And it's not alone. Many home furnishings retailers have been posting strong performances recently. Well now we know that the housing market is strong so people have to buy furnishings and they are usually busy working couples so they buy quickly and choose easily. The stores are extremely attractive and conducive to impulse buying. The ones who spend the most are in the 35-44 age group (they must have seen me there these last few dozen times)... MACD is still bullish although it weakened a bit today. Relative Strength is bullish. It's less than 1 point away from a new 52 week high. The trend could reverse and I would be careful, just watch it in the morning. The Relative strength percentile is extremely high of 92nd percentile for all stocks would mean that the stock has outperformed 92% of all other stocks in the database. I check the relative strength and performance using prosearch from telescan.. I can check the last month, 3 months, 6 months and 9 and 12 months giving more 'weight' the the last 3 months. It's come up high on all scans. Still could be good for a pop Tuesday/Wednesday. BBBY reports on June 25. *excerpts from the article a combination of businesswire, and Investor Business Daily...
