I'm still interested in knowing how large Sybases largest data warehouses are...I will bear in mind that there is minimal if any data 'explosion'?

I certainly agree that Oracle and Informix explode the database with indexes and the like, although I would say 3-4 times is a more likely number for Informix in real sites. (TPC-D's are extreme examples as you know).

I have heard that XPS is running with 3-5 terabytes at one customer ...using a 3-4 estimate this still places raw data at approx. 1TB. Does Sybase IQ scale to this amount of raw data?
