Looks like chambers is quaking in his boots, about this NT/Bay deal. He knows that the NT/Bay alliance is what he envisioned with a partnership with NT.

John Roth managing the telecom side of things, while House manages the data portion and the "internet" switches.

With the Sales force of NT (Bay's sales force was sub-par), this really makes a potent combination.

Cisco looks like it will be relegated to a marginal player. IT IS TOO SMALL TO COMPETE.

In a couple of years, Lucent will get Cisco for REAL cheap.

Scott,

The bigger the ship, the larger the rudder to turn her!

LU and NT are big ships with small rudders, lots of their stuff is built in-house. Cisco builds most of it's stuff outside by contract manufacturers and that's a tremendous advantage when it comes time to shift gears. Cisco is lean and mean in this department!

The name of the game from now on is how the RBOC's and others buy equipment, that's where the big margins are. I applaud Cisco's move to the end user and small business as this will grow the base.

The fun part is watching this technology unfold, it's still in it's infancy and we have a whole world to sell to!

regards

Eric
