Milehigh:

I forgot to add that in addition to the Synclink consortium, there is also Ramtron (RMTR). They (Ramtron) have gotten a design win through digital when they had the rights to the Alpha chip. Currently, the rights to the alpha chip have been sold to Intel and further cross lincensed to AMD, IBM and Samsung. Of those two competitors, I think the closest compeition to RMBS is RMTR since it is a single company and no politics are involved... The synclink competitor is a consortium of Semiconductor dram companies...

Re: "There is competition everywhere and I am sure SDRAM and SLDRAM will come to market and some will be sold.."

What good is a 13.553 inch tire when there are no wheels to fit it? Just which chipset do you think will support SLDRAM? Some Taiwanese ASIS house? A Socket7 spinoff? Don't count on it. The future is clear. It's Rambus because that's what Intel says it's going to be. No one else can turn the tide.
