Thread, I'm feeling talkative....Read below news from briefing.com...My point is this and you can quote me on this, RMBS chip set and implementation will be hitting full stride in the next semi UPTURN...Therefore, we are basing numbers, prospects, etc..on a gloomy picture..briefing.com thinks the bargain hunters are just now jumping in and when they jump in full force, they will jump on RMBS as well..

Also, and importantly, when one looks at the MACRO picture and reads everyday about, cable TV set top boxes, cable Internet access, chip designs for non-PC uses, hand-held communications devices, DVD, digital TV, enhanced graphics for games and video conferencing, etc., the need for chips will only increase dramatically over time.

If you see the semi industry being dependent on the PC market over the next 5-10 years, one can not see the forest through the trees!!

Semiconductor
Brief: Quickly, how can you tell when a group has reached (at least) a trading bottom?... When it goes up in the face of bad news... Chip stocks doing just that in recent days... Yesterday, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter cut earnings estimates on Atmel (ATML), Xilinx (XLNX) and Altera (ALTR) citing weakness in Asia, pricing pressures and generally poor industry conditions... A week ago the news would have sent the group into a tailspin... Tuesday, all three stocks shrugged off the bad news and closed in positive territory... Other gainers included Intel (+41 3/8), Linear (+4 11/16), Texas Instruments (+2 1/4), Motorola (+1 1/8) and Analog Devices (+1 3/16)... Trading patterns sending signal that worst is over - at least for near-term... Market now anticipating positive surprises... Right now action being driven by value investors hunting after long-term bargains... If momentum investors jump back in group's recovery rally will really take-off.
