Lawrence,

If currencies do not adjust other aspects of economies must. Adjustments cause pain for some. I agree, I am not sure that all the European countries will deal with that. But in some ways their resolve astounds me.

By the same token, the question is can China deal with the pain and not devalue. If she takes this moment to build internal demand perhaps she can. She is taking these steps. But wow, China is a huge country to manage.

Are there sufficient communication systems in place to provide the information flow a market or even a command economy requires? Do the signals come through sufficiently clear that an astute manager can do all the right things?

I suppose a good manager sets standards and the environment for strong performance and lets the people produce the success. Hence, peg to the dollar.

Best,
Lee
