After 17 weeks on a work-share program, 300 Glenayre Technologies Inc. (GEMS:NASDAQ) employees are working full
time again.

Vancouver-based Glenayre had placed approximately one-third of its staff on the federal program in February, after a
significant drop in Asian business forced it to scale back its Vancouver-based production.

But things are beginning to turn around for Glenayre, which specializes in paging switches, transmitters and voice-mail box
switches.

The 300 employees, who during four months worked three days a week and collected employment insurance for the remaining
two days, are fully occupied. Among recent projects coming from China -- the only Asian market generating consistent
business for Glenayre -- is a $9-million contract to provide a complete high-speed paging network for the Zhejiang Province
P&T Radio Paging Co.

The network, to be in service in November, has the capacity to support two million subscribers.*
