Yes, it definitely makes sense to Short this Telcom fund and go long Lucent. I can't believe it - a fund set up to invest in antiquated Telcom. These folks margins are going to vanish, especially because of DSL and cable and they're drowning in debt to boot!

Perosnally I like Lucent, Cisco, Microsoft, ADC Telcom the best. Levi Strauss made a fortune selling pants to miners, most of whom never made a dime. These firms sell the electronic equivalent of pants to Telcom and cable companies, most of whom will never make a dime. The new AT&T / TCI deal accellerates this race to cblivion.
